Nashville, TN - Nashville Paw welcomed 240 guests to the Tinney Contemporary Gallery where they hosted an art auction on February 11, 2011. The event raised $6,893, an increase of $2,238 over last year. Pictured here is DogJaw creator Michael Pyatt (L) and Jared Brown(R), one of the proud silent auction winners of the DogJaw.
Creator of the DogJaw, Michael Pyatt, designed the ergonomic feeder for our best friends who eat with their face. Thecustom design of the handmade stoneware and stand take into consideration the pet parent’s décor, hence qualifying as art. Pyatt states, “The classic round, flat bottom dog dish presents challenges which affect both us and our pets, because of the flat surface dry food spreads out across the entire bottom.” Pyatt continues, “A corner also exists in a round bowl where the bottom and sides meet and wet food becomes pressed into this area. In order for our pets to eat their food, they must rotate their necks at an awkward angle. Some animals may find this position difficult, and will leave remaining food. Pet owners then have a couple of choices; to scrape the food to the middle, so they can finish or the leftover food goes into the trash, costing pet parents budgets to increase.”
$1100 of the funds raised will go to host the Spay Station, a mobile veterinary clinic that will be positioned outside the Happy Tales Humane at the Factory in Franklin, TN on February 26, 2011. They are providing 24 free spay and neuter for pets that otherwise would not get fixed. Recipients are families who are on government assistance and rely on The Spay Station to provide this crucial service. The remaining funds are to be donated to Happy Tales Humane for their "Loves Fixes Everything" low-cost spay and neuter program.
